define("TXT_START_CONTENT", "
We know that climate change is happening, but how can we stop and reverse global warming? The problem is complex, but the goal is seemingly simple: reducing our CO2 footprint. A good starting point would be if everyone understood their own CO2 footprint.
All living things emit carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Plants need it to live. Our daily activities, from surfing the internet to burgers to a cup of coffee, release greenhouse gases. The problem with this is that these gases are able to store far more heat than our atmosphere normally does. The result is a greenhouse effect, under which the temperature of the planet is increasing. This rise in the global temperature can lead to ecosystems failing, species dying out, and an increase in extreme weather events (storms, floods, droughts).
The key to saving our planet lies in jointly working on lowering our carbon footprint. The less CO2 and other greenhouse gases we release into the atmosphere, the easier it will be for the climate to stabilise itself. That way, we can achieve CO2 neutrality and prevent climate change.
Various personal patterns of behaviour cause more CO2 than others. But by changing and adapting your behaviour, you could save up to 60% of current average CO2 emissions per capita.
Do you want to know where you stand, and what you can do? Then calculate your footprint.
